How to play Gomoku Five

Gomoku Five is the classic five-in-a-row board game on a wooden 15 by 15 board. Black and white take turns placing one stone on an intersection; the first player to get five stones in an unbroken line, across, down or diagonally, wins. If the board fills up, the game is a draw.

Play against a bot at Easy, Medium or Hard strength and choose whether you move first as Black or second as White, or sit down with a friend for local pass-and-play. Against the bot you get three free undos per game, a hint that marks a strong move (after a short video) and, after a loss, a chance to take back your last moves and play on. The winning line lights up in gold.

Your wins, losses, draws and win streaks are saved on your device for each bot level, so you can close the tab and come back later. Sound effects can be muted with one button, and a zoom button helps on small phones. The game runs in the browser with no download and no account.
