How to play Drop Four

Drop Four is a two-side rack game. Yellow and red take turns dropping a disc into one of seven columns; the disc falls to the lowest free slot, and the first side to line up four in a row, across, up or diagonally, wins. If the rack fills with no line, the game is a draw.

Play against a bot at Easy, Medium or Hard strength, as the first or the second side, or share one screen with a friend. The bot looks ahead several moves; the Hard bot thinks about ten moves deep and punishes every gap. Your win streak and your record at each level are saved on your device. Against the bot you can take back your last move or ask for a hint column by watching an optional short video; the game plays fine without either.

The winning four light up with a glow and confetti. The game runs in the browser with no download and no account.

FAQ

How do I win?

Line up four discs of your colour in a row: across, up and down, or on a diagonal. Block your opponent's threes before they become fours.

What do the bot levels change?

Easy looks only a couple of moves ahead and sometimes plays a random column. Medium plans about five moves ahead. Hard plans about ten moves ahead and almost never makes a mistake.

Can I play with a friend?

Yes. Choose 2 players on the menu and take turns on the same screen: yellow goes first.

What are Undo and Hint?

Against the bot, Undo takes back your last move and Hint points to a strong column. Each is an optional rewarded video; you can always keep playing without them.

Is Drop Four free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Tap a column to drop a disc.
