How to play Boxing Bout

Boxing Bout is a cartoon boxing game seen from your corner. Your blue gloves are at the bottom of the screen, the rival stands in front of you, and every punch he throws is announced by a glowing wind-up. Read it, then lean away, block, or parry it with a well-timed guard, and hit back while he is open.

A bout has three rounds of 45 seconds. Throw quick jabs and heavier crosses, but watch your stamina: every punch tires you, and a gassed boxer is a target. Perfect dodges and parries, counter-punches and combos fill the super meter, and a full meter lets you throw a haymaker. Knock the rival down and the referee counts; get knocked down yourself and tap to get back on your feet before ten.

Win by knock-out, by three knockdowns, or on the judges' cards. Eight rivals wait in the career, from the slow Rookie Ray to The Champ, each with their own habits: big swings, fast combos, feints, a wall of a guard. After that comes an endless gauntlet of tougher rematches. Earn coins after every bout and spend them in training on power, stamina, chin and footwork. Progress is saved on your device.

FAQ

How do I avoid a punch?

Lean left or right with the dodge buttons or the arrow keys just before it lands. Hooks come from one side, so lean the other way; straights and big swings can be dodged either way.

What is a parry?

Press block just before a punch lands. You take no damage, the rival is dazed, and your super meter jumps.

Why can't I punch any more?

Punches cost stamina. Stand still or block for a moment to recover, and avoid throwing everything at once.

What are coins for?

Every bout pays coins. Spend them in Training on power, stamina, chin and footwork. An optional video doubles the coins of a bout.

Is Boxing Bout free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Use the on-screen buttons: BLOCK (hold), DODGE left and right, JAB, CROSS and SUPER. You can also tap the left or right side of the ring to punch and swipe sideways to dodge.
