How to play Tower Hanoi
Tower Hanoi is the classic disc-stacking puzzle with three wooden pegs. A tower of coloured discs starts on one peg, and your job is to move the whole tower to the peg marked with a star. You may move only the top disc of a peg, one disc per move, and a bigger disc can never sit on a smaller one.
Play six puzzles that grow from 3 to 8 discs. Every puzzle shows the smallest possible number of moves, and you earn up to three stars: three for a perfect solve, two when you are close, one for any solve. Undo takes back a move, and the first hint of every puzzle is free. Further hints are optional rewarded videos. A daily challenge gives a new disc count and a new pair of pegs every day.
Progress, best moves and settings are saved on your device, so you can close the tab and come back later. The game runs in the browser with no download and no account.

FAQ
What is the goal of Tower Hanoi?
Move the whole stack of discs from the first peg to the peg marked with a gold star, one disc at a time, never putting a bigger disc on a smaller one.
How many moves does a perfect solve take?
The minimum is 2 to the power of the disc count, minus one: 7 moves for 3 discs and 255 moves for 8 discs. The game shows this number as Best possible.
Can I take a move back?
Yes. Undo takes back the last move and its count. The first hint of every puzzle is free and shows the next move of an optimal plan.
What is the daily challenge?
A new puzzle every day with a disc count from 3 to 8 and a random start and goal peg, the same for everyone on that date.
Is Tower Hanoi free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Drag a disc to another peg, or tap a peg and then its target. Undo, Restart and Hint buttons sit at the bottom.
