How to play Sign Grid
Sign Grid is a number logic puzzle on a square board from 4 x 4 up to 7 x 7. Every row and every column must hold each number exactly once, and the small signs between neighbouring squares tell you which of the two numbers is bigger. A few squares are given at the start; the rest you work out.
Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved by thinking alone, no guessing. Easy puzzles need only the signs and the simplest eliminations; Expert puzzles ask for longer chains of reasoning. Use pencil notes to track what a square can still be, or let the game fill them in for you.
Play the 60 levels from a gentle 4 x 4 to a hard 7 x 7, take on a new daily puzzle, or pick any size and difficulty in quick play. Win stars for solving without hints, earn coins and spend them on hints that point out the next logical step. Your progress is saved on your device.
Controls
Click a square, then a number button or key 1 to 7. N toggles notes, Backspace erases, U or Ctrl+Z undoes, H gives a hint, arrow keys move.
Tap a square, then tap a number under the board. Use Notes for pencil marks, Undo, Erase and Hint below the numbers.
FAQ
How do the signs work?
A sign between two squares points its open side at the bigger number, like the greater-than and less-than signs in maths. A sign that opens to the right means the left number is smaller.
Do I ever have to guess?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one solution that follows from the rules by logic. If you are stuck, a hint shows the next logical step.
How are stars earned?
Three stars for a puzzle solved without hints and with at most two mistakes, two stars for one hint or a few mistakes, otherwise one star.
Is it like Sudoku?
It shares the idea of using every number once per row and column, but there are no boxes. The signs between squares make the solving different.
Is Sign Grid free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Tap a square, then tap a number under the board. Use Notes for pencil marks, Undo, Erase and Hint below the numbers.
