How to play Cage Sums
Cage Sums is a number logic puzzle. Fill an n by n grid with the numbers 1 to n so that no number repeats in any row or column. The grid is cut into coloured cages, and each cage shows a target and a sign: add, subtract, multiply or divide. The numbers inside the cage must reach that target. A cage with only a number in it is a free clue.
Every puzzle is made by the game's own generator and has exactly one solution, so you can always find it by logic and never need to guess. Work through 60 levels that grow from small 3 by 3 grids with plain sums to 7 by 7 grids that mix all four signs, play the daily puzzle whose size changes with the weekday, or pick a size in free play.
Pencil in candidates with notes mode, undo any move, and use a hint when you are stuck. Repeated numbers and cages that miss their target are marked as you play. Earn up to three stars on each level for a fast solve without hints. Your progress, best times and daily streak are saved on your device.

FAQ
How do the cages work?
Each coloured cage has a target and a sign. Add, multiply, or for two squares subtract (bigger minus smaller) or divide (bigger by smaller). A number may repeat inside a cage if its squares are not in the same row or column.
Do I ever need to guess?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one solution that can be reached by logic. If you are stuck, use notes mode to track candidates or take a hint.
What is the daily puzzle?
One puzzle per calendar day, the same for everyone. Its size depends on the weekday, and solving it on consecutive days builds a streak.
How do I earn three stars?
Solve the level without using a hint and within the par time shown on the result card. Without hints but slower gives two stars, with hints one star.
Is Cage Sums free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Tap a square, then tap a number under the grid. Use the Notes, Erase, Undo and Hint buttons next to the numbers. The pause button is at the top right.
