How to play Brick Breaker

Brick Breaker is a fast arcade classic: a paddle at the bottom, a ball that never stops and rows of glossy bricks above. Keep the ball in play, break every breakable brick and clear the level before you run out of lives.

Bricks take one, two or three hits, steel bricks cannot be broken, moving steel bars sweep across the field and explosive bricks blow up their neighbours. Break bricks without touching the paddle to build a combo that multiplies your score up to eight times. Bricks drop power-ups: a wider paddle, multi-ball, a sticky paddle that catches the ball, a slow ball, twin lasers, a piercing fireball and the occasional extra life.

There are 30 levels with new layouts, a sliding boss brick with a health bar every fifth level, and the ball gets faster as you go. After level 30 the course repeats at a higher speed. Your best score and the level you reached are saved on your device.

Controls

Mouse or Left / Right (A / D) moves the paddle. Click or Space launches the ball. P or Esc pauses.

Drag a finger to move the paddle. Tap to launch the ball.

FAQ

How many lives do I have?

Three. Lose the last ball and the run ends; you can watch an optional video once per run for an extra life, or just play again.

What do the power-ups do?

Wide paddle, multi-ball (three balls), sticky paddle (catches the ball so you can aim), slow ball, twin lasers, a fireball that pierces bricks, and an extra life.

Which bricks cannot be broken?

Grey steel bricks and the moving steel bars. Break everything else to clear the level; explosive bricks help by damaging their neighbours.

How does the combo work?

Every brick broken without touching the paddle raises the combo; every four bricks the multiplier goes up, to a maximum of x8. Touching the paddle resets it.

Is Brick Breaker free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Drag a finger to move the paddle. Tap to launch the ball.
