How to play Bridge Builder

Bridge Builder gives you a gap, a budget and a vehicle. Drag from point to point to join beams: road beams carry the vehicle, wood and steel beams hold the road up. Wood is cheap and weaker, steel is strong and dear. Press Test and a simple physics simulation shows where your bridge holds, bends or breaks, with every beam turning red as it nears its limit.

Ten levels raise the gap and the weight, from a small car to a heavy truck, and from level 7 the middle pier rises and falls so the bridge has to move with it. Cross with any bridge for one star, spend less for two and three. Your best cost and stars for every level are saved.

Progress, best costs and the sound setting are saved on your device, so you can close the tab and come back later. The game runs in the browser with no download and no account.

Controls

Drag from point to point to place a beam. Space tests, R resets, Z undoes, 1 2 3 pick the material.

Drag between two points to place a beam, or tap one point and then another. The Test button runs the vehicle.

FAQ

How do I place a beam?

Drag from one point to another, or tap a point and then a second point. Beams are at most five cells long and cost by length.

Why did my bridge break?

Each beam has a force limit. A long flat road with no triangles under it carries the weight in a few beams, which turn red and snap. Add supports under the road and use steel where beams turn red first.

How do I earn three stars?

Cross with a bridge that costs less than the three-star cost shown in the result: fewer beams, wood where it is safe, steel only where needed.

What are the moving piers?

From level 7 the middle pier rises and falls slowly. Build trusses that join the deck ends only, so the whole bridge can tilt with the pier.

Is Bridge Builder free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It runs on phones, tablets and computers. Drag between two points to place a beam, or tap one point and then another. The Test button runs the vehicle.
